A Charter Member of the Association of Graveyard Rabbits

What is the Association of Graveyard Rabbits ??

From the website

…… this association promotes the historical importance of cemeteries, grave markers, and the family history to be learned from a study of burial customs, burying grounds, and tombstones. The social end is from getting together in the blogosphere with a group of like-minded individuals all promoting the study of cemeteries, the preservation of cemeteries, and the transcription of genealogical/historical information written in cemeteries.

What is “a Graveyard rabbit of the Old West” about?

My wife and I love to travel, but funds are limited, so mostly we don’t get very far from our home in San Bernardino County, California. For our birthdays one year we went and spent the weekend in Barstow, my mother, as anyone that lives in Southern California and knows of Barstow would, thought it was hilarious. Unfortunately that was before we got into genealogy, so we didn’t know that we should have been researching graveyards. I guess a return trip is on the horizon, even though at the time we said that we had seen everything there was to see in Barstow.

On one of our trips we noticed that there was an old ghost town just off our route, when we travel we try to have time to explore. While we were exploring this town we noticed the graveyard and being genealogy enthusists, started wondering if someone’s “brick wall” ancestor was buried in this forgotten little cemetery.
